FROM THE BRITISH PIKE SQUAD

British Pike Squad Team Selection Final

Dedicated and experienced pike anglers are invited to take part in this years British Pike Squad Team Selection Final which will take place on Friday the 10th and Sunday 12th of November at Whittlesey in Cambridgeshire over the same weekend as the ACA/Angling Times Final to enable those who wish to take part in both events. For those who don't, we are arranging a separate sit down match on the Saturday. Our Selection Final match format is for two days of one-rod river roving matches using deadbait or lures only, that will see the Top 10 anglers over the two days being selected to represent Great Britain at the 16th International Pike Championship's to be held at Bridgwater in Somerset in October 2007.

Registration for the event will be held on Friday morning from 7.30am where weigh cards and ID cards will be issued; and all scales checked for accuracy. Venue for registration will be the Flacon Hotel in the town centre. Fishing is expected to commence as soon as possible and last for 6 hours. Meet back at the base after the day's fishing where the results will be posted as quickly as possible.

Entry for this years event is £40, inclusive of day tickets for both days, BPS administration fee and pools. There will be tackle prizes for the Top 3 anglers overall, plus others for the captor of the largest pike, and captor of the most pike over the two days.

Please note that due to the nature of the fishing and distances to be covered combined with steep banks in places, that this match does not favour those with disabilities. You are still more than welcome to come along and compete at your own risk, but be aware of the problems to be faced.

This year's 15th International meeting between Ireland and Great Britain will take place at Roscommon at the beginning of October where Britain will be represented by Paul Higginson (captain), Stephen Colegate, Andy Waller, Carl Melbourne, Wayne Gorringe, Mario Reho, Andy White, Gary Edwards, Steve Roberts & Paul Danby. Britain hope to retain the International Challenge Trophy after their good win on home soil at Loughborough last year.

Please send your cheques made out to "British Pike Squad" to me along with full contact details so we can confirm all arrangements with you to the address given below. I look forward to hearing from you.
