FROM THE BRITISH PIKE SQUAD

Last year we had a fantastic result by beating the Irish on their own doorstep. This year we are fishing the fens again and we have the team to beat them. We are desperately trying to secure sponsorship as no-one has come forward as yet. The team has to pay for all their own baits, hotel accommodation and also secure the time off work, which for some is very expensive. By now all those who have qualified for the team should have received their letters as well as the times and dates of the next qualifier which will enable the top ten to fish in Ireland next year.

As I said, our main problem is sponsorship. If any tackle or bait suppliers, or even individuals, read this and can sponsor this year's team, even for a very minuscule amount ,this will be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted on the e-mail address below. If anyone is interested to find out how to qualify or what the event is about please feel free to e-mail me. We need new blood all the time and this also enables us to teach people the art of wobbling dead baits. This is a roving match ,and you can be walking up to, and over, ten miles per day. The event is spread over two days on different venues to give all a chance.

This year there have been some changes in the organisation and, hopefully, myself, Frank Scott and all the others that have agreed to assist in the running of the team will push forward. If there are any other countries that have teams that are reading this and would like to join in on the challenge again feel free to e-mail me as I would like this to grow into the best competition. This is not a match which anyone has fished the like of before.

The Team challenge has been going for over ten years now and I personally feel privileged to have been part of it for the last five. I think everyone and anyone who has fished qualifiers or the matches themselves owe the original people a very big thank you. Two people in particular being Chris Tingley and Dave Tingley. I apologise if I do not mention everyone else who are involved in the success.

I look forward to hearing from anyone and everyone.
