PAC at the Palace

Yes its true, the PAC has indeed been invited to attend the palace, OK its not the palace but Blenheim Palace in sunny Oxfordshire for the CLA Game Fair on 23rd - 25th of July. This follows on from a fact-finding visit that Pete Green, John Hodgson and myself made to last years CLA game fair held at Harewood House near Leeds. That event attracted over 131,000 visitors over the 3 days. Thousands of which made a beeline for the fisherman’s village, where many trade stands and other Angling Organisations similar to ours were displaying their wares and promoting their views. We made the decision that the event was well worth attending and made arrangements with the organisers to be kept informed about this years event. Apparently the Blenheim venue is expected to be even better attended than before, and following on from a successful show at the Go Fishing Exhibition at the NEC we feel confident that this event should also go well. Attending shows such as this besides raising funds from products sales and attracting new members allows existing members to meet some of the committee in person to air their views. We find this feedback useful in determining future policy etc. Not only that but as this event is held in the southern half of the country and we (the committee) are based in the North we feel it is important to make ourselves available to PAC members living in the South as we do not wish them to feel isolated or ignored.

I recommend all PAC members to attend and pay our stand a visit if you have the time where you will be able to purchase certain PAC products at special sale prices, re-new your membership, indulge in some juicy gossip and enjoy some friendly banter, you may even learn something about fishing for pike or perhaps pass on your own knowledge. Bring the wife, kids and the dog and you can be assured of an excellent day out. There is much to see and do and bargains to be found, be it fishing tackle or almost anything else you can thing of from a packet of bird seed to a helicopter. In fact arrive as early as you can as there is likely to be lengthy traffic delays, bring a picnic or buy food from the many outlets and sample a pint from the beer tent whilst being entertained by one of the famous TV angling personalities as they demonstrate their skill in various angling techniques down by the lake. It really is a superb day out for the whole family, hope to see you there.

Before I go I must mention the Angling Fair at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. We will be in attendance with our stand and our future Chairman Mr Colin Goodge will be giving a demonstration of pike fishing techniques in the grandstand down by the river. This event is held over two days on the 22nd-23rd May and whilst not as big as the Game Fair is well worth a visit and offers entertainment for the whole family. Once again if you shop around you will find many bargains that should easily save you the admission fee of £8 per head, kids under 14 free with free parking and dogs welcome this really is a fantastic day out. A word of warning though keep an eye on the weather as rain will soon turn the site into a quagmire so sensible shoes or boots are essential. If you cant make the Game Fair this is the next best thing, hope to see you there.

Tight lines

Mick Culpan - PAC Products Manager.
